Vault 4.0.6 integration not showing in VS2008

Post by cpozen » Thu Mar 22, 2012 5:57 pm

I have installed the vault standard 4.0.6 client on a windows 2008 server. When I launch Visual Studio, under tools>options>source Control, there is no options to select Vault.

Any Ideas?

There are a couple of incompatibilities here.

Vault 4.0.6 was released prior to Windows 2008 Server and VS 2008. Vault 4.0.6 doesn't support Enhanced Client integration with Visual Studio 2008. Also, Vault 4.0.6 isn't supported on Windows 2008 Server or 64-bit systems.

Classic Client integration might work, with VS 2008 on Windows 2008, but if it's a 64-bit OS, the Client installer may not write the proper registry keys for integration with VS 2008. As a workaround, you might be able to enable Classic Client integration by adding registry keys for SourceControlProvider. See the screenshots in the zip file for details. These are from my own Windows 2008 system.

We'd recommend upgrading to Vault 5.1.2 for full support of VS 2008 and Windows 2008 Server.

See the the compatibility chart for further details:
