merge 2 to installs of vault standard

Post by holdera » Tue Jan 31, 2012 4:56 pm

Hi there,

I would like to merge my two installs of the vault standard 5.1.2.19281 into one install with 2 repositories. Can this be done?

You could use the Vault Folder Export/Import tool that installs with the Vault client to export the data from one Vault server and import it into the other. You can create the same repositories on the remaining Vault server to import the data into.

Thanks Beth.

I want to do this because we had problems updating our 3.5.1 server to 4.something in the past and we needed a newer version for doing VS integration. So we just installed a 5.1.2 server and bought new licenses.

time has past and I gave the upgrade another try and the 3.5.1 server upgraded with no apparent problems so now we have 2 5.1.2 servers when we really only need one.

But I just tried to build an access 2003 project (adp) from the new 5.12 server and Ms access complains:

"This Vault server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client"

Any thoughts? I need to be able to build MS Access 2003 adps. It has to be 2003. perhaps if I uninstall the 3.5.1 client and the 5.1.2 client and re-install just the 5.1.2?

I would hate to be stuck back at 3.5.1 and therefore windows 2003 server forever

The error you are receiving means that the wrong client version is installed. Uninstall any clients on that machine and install just the one you need.

yes I was trying just that as I read your reply.

Removed client 3.5.1 and 5.1.2
re-installed access source code control add-in just to be sure.
re installed 5.1.2

Success! also this resolved an issue we were having with flex grid controls on windows 7. Now they work!

All this running in the Amazon EC2 Cloud on Windows server 2008 R2 64bit and SQL Server 2008 r2 Express

I am really happy! Thank you Source Gear!
