Hi Beth - just wondering if this product has all those little files, like SourceSafe does - the aaaa.. files.. I hope not.. I'm hoping SQL will take care of that.. Also - this product will run on SQL 2008, right?
Thanks - We did our purchase today, but I have to wait until next week for someone to come back before I can install etc... and then ask more questions!!
Thanks!

No, Vault does not use a file system database like VSS does. Vault uses SQL as the database. All you need to back up is your sgvault and sgmaster databases that are in SQL Server in order to have disaster recovery.
Vault will have its application files in the website, but those don't contain your code and won't need a backup to recover your code.

AWESEOME! That's great!! Backing up those other files was miserable.. took forever! Also - are we going to be okay if we start on an SQL2000 server and move to an SQL 2008 server? I'm sure I will have some more questions as we get started - meantime, I hope to read some of the links you sent me..
Thanks again - Maggie

Vault currently supports both SQL 2000 and SQL 2008. You can start with one and eventually move to the other.
