setting up email
Re: setting up email
To configure email notifications, you need access to a mail server. Contact your system administrator for the mail server name and port.
From Vault Admin Help:
The Email Settings page allows you to configure how Vault Professional sends email to Vault Professional users.
Users can configure Vault Professional to send them email anytime a change happens in a repository folder, or a work item is updated. You may send a test email using the "Test Settings" link.
SMTP Server and Port
The SMTP Server field contains the server you want Vault Professional to use when sending email to its users.
SSL
Use a secure connection to the SMTP server.
SMTP Auth User
The SMTP Auth User field contains the user name that is used to login to the SMTP server for authentication, if the SMTP server requires authentication.
Password
The Password field contains the password for the user name that is used to login to the SMTP server for authentication, if the SMTP server requires authentication.
From Address
The From Address field is used to specify the address that will appear in emails sent from the Vault Professional server. It does not need to be a valid email address, but it will be displayed as the user from whom the email was sent.
Server URL
The Server URL field is used to specify the Vault Professional Server that emails will use to link actions to the Vault Professional web interface. For example, when a user checks in a file, a link will be generated in the email message that is sent as part of that check in.
This should be something like: http://[Vault Professionalservermachine]/VaultService
Some users have been able to use Google mail if they don't have their own email server. If you need instructions for this, Email support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.
