SourceGear DiffMerge 3.3.1 is Now Available.

Post by jeffhostetler » Thu Jul 28, 2011 11:17 am

SourceGear DiffMerge 3.3.1 is Now Available.

See http://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/index.html for more information.
A full changelog is given in Chapter 11 in the manual.

Highlights in this release include:
  • New 64-bit releases for Windows, Fedora, and Ubuntu.
  • For Mac users we added a PKG installer in addition to the usual DMG package.
  • Mac users please note that this 3.3.1 release is Intel-only.
  • On Windows, we've overhauled the Windows MSI installer to allow core DiffMerge components to be shared by multiple SourceGear products. And the 64-bit installer installs both the 32- and 64-bit versions of the Explorer shell extension so that it will be available to both 64-bit Explorer and third-party shell replacements (which are usually 32-bit).
  • Ubuntu users can use our new APT repository http://debian.sourcegear.com/ubuntu to install DiffMerge. See http://veracity-scm.com/help/ubuntu_install.html for instructions on adding our repository to your APT sources list. Then type "sudo apt-get install diffmerge" to install.
  • Updated company logos.
  • Various bug fixes.
Packages for all Windows, Mac, Fedora, and Ubuntu platforms can be found here:
http://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/downloads.php

Enjoy

Is the Mac OS X version only compatible with 10.6 and higher? On 10.5 it fails to launch. When I try to launch it via the shell script, it says:
dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022
Trace/BPT trap

3.3.1 was only tested on 10.6 and 10.7. (And it's an Intel-only build.)

There shouldn't be anything to prevent it running on 10.5. (I mean
I'm not using any new bleeding-edge OS features.) But I am linking
with the 10.6 system libraries, so that's probably the source of the problem.

Sorry.

OK thanks. It's no biggie using 3.3.0 until I finally get the OS updated.

I'm a little confused by the name of the MSI file I get when I download the 3.3.1 version, and the reference to version 3.3.1 in the title of this post.

The file that appears on my system is named DiffMerge_3_3_0_18513.msi, but this is in fact version 3.3.1, correct?

Also, the release notes page (http://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/rel ... index.html) references "3.3.1 (July 25, 2011)"

And http://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/rel ... 3.3.1.html says that DiffMerge.exe has a new name sdgm.exe. Yet, Program Files\SourceGear\Diffmerge still has DiffMerge.exe.

I've got splinters under my fingernails. Please help Jeff

AdThanksVance

ps. This is all in an effort to determine why "diffmerge -diff=diff.txt expected actual" fails to produce a diff.txt file without any indication of error, and ERRORCODE = 3 when run from within a batch file and valid results (ie. expected diffs exit) when run from within a batch file but when not using "-diff=diff.txt"

pps. Don't want to hijack this title, so will post appropriately after the 3.3.0 vs. 3.3.1 name issues is resolved.

pps. The Help->About SourceGear Diffmerge window displays 3.3.0 (18513) with Copyright 2003-2009

It looks like those pages on the server accidentally got reverted
to the older 3.3 (3.3.0) version. The webmaster/sysasmin is
out of the office at the moment, so I can't update/fix it right
now.

I'll post another note when the pages and the new downloads
have been restored.

If anyone else downloaded it recently, check that the package
you received has 3.3.1 or 3_3_1 in the package file name (or
check the DiffMerge about box).

Sorry for the mix up, but we'll have it fixed shortly.

We've restored the new versions of the downloads page
so you should be able to try your download again and get
a "real" 3.3.1 package.

(again, confirm that there is a 3.3.1 or 3_3_1 somewhere
in the package file name.)

Sorry for the mix up.

How do I get this tool to run on Leopard 10.5?

Apparently 3.3.1 crashes, and I can't find a download for 3.3.0

Help much appreciated.

For those of you who like me have Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and need the 3.3.0 build, because 3.3.1 still fails, here is the DiffMerge older release download page

Yes 3.3.1 is for Intel and 10.6 and beyond.
Sorry for any confusion. We need to update
the wording on the primary downloads page
to better indicate this.

And yes, the 3.3.0 release is still available
for PPC/Intel on 10.4 and 10.5 on the page
you listed.

Any chance of issue 14379/14384 resolved in this version?

Sorry, but no. They didn't make it into this version.

The 3.3.1 release was rather limited in scope. I was
mainly focusing on packaging, installers, platform-bitness,
and etc.
