Connect to Windows 7 from Windows XP
I have the server component of Vault installed and running on Windows 7. When I try to connect to the server from my XP development environment it can not see the server. What do I need to change so my XP system can connect to the server running on Win7?
Re: Connect to Windows 7 from Windows XP
Are the machines in the same network?
On the Windows 7 machine, can you connect to web client at http://<your machine name>/vaultservice/vaultweb and login as admin?
On the Windows XP machine, can you connect to the Vault homepage at http://<your machine name>/vaultservice?
Is IIS allowed through the Windows 7 firewall?

Same network

Yes, on the W7 machine I can connect and login in as admin
On the Windows XP machine, can you connect to the Vault homepage at http://<your machine name>/vaultservice?
No, this is the part I can not get to work.
Is IIS allowed through the Windows 7 firewall?
I am allowing HTTP traffic through is there anything in addition to that I need to allow.

Re: Connect to Windows 7 from Windows XP
Try the URL http://<your machine name>/vaultservice/index.html instead or http://<IP address>/vaultservice/index.html instead.
What error do you get?

Re: Connect to Windows 7 from Windows XP
Thanks, but the URL I'm giving doesn't go in the client. For the client, try just putting in the IP address of your Windows 7 machine. If you were already trying just the IP address then try the browser next.
In a browser such as Internet Explorer, try http://<IP address>/vaultservice/index.html.
Then try pinging the IP from the XP machine. Do you get a response if you run the following from a command line: ping <your IP address>. For example: ping 74.125.225.48

You might try making sure network discovery is turned on in the Windows 7 machine.
