Help!!Upgrade Vault 4.0.6 SQL2000 W2K3 to 5.1.1 SQL2008 W2K8
We have install of SourceGear 4.0.6, which runs on SQL SERVER 2000 database on Windows 2003.The SQL Server database runs on a separate physical machine. Need help to upgrade the SourceGear to latest 5.1.1 version and at the same time upgrade the SQL Server database to 2008 and windows 2008. Please provide the detail steps to install these on separate W2K8 servers.

Are you moving the Vault Server and the database to two different WIndows 2008 machines?
Make a good backup of your Vault databases, sgvault and sgmaster. Then restore the databases to the new SQL Server 2008 machine.
Next, install Vault 5.1.1 on the new Windows 2008 web server machine. During the installation you'll be asked for the location of the Vault database. Enter the name of the new SQL Server machine. Follow the prompts to finish the installation.
Note: It's important to have the databases in place before you install Vault. The installer will take care of making the associations between Vault server and the databases and will also create the proper permissions in SQL Server.
If I misunderstood what you're planning, let me know and I'll modify my instructions.

Re: Help!!Upgrade Vault 4.0.6 SQL2000 W2K3 to 5.1.1 SQL2008
Thanks for quick reply. Yes we are going to have to separate machines one for Vault server and second for the SQL server database. Does the following sequence of steps make sense:
1. Copy the existing 2000 SQL server database to the new windows 2008 server
2. Upgrade the SQL server database from 2000 to 2008 SQL Server
3. Run the 5.1.1 installer from the new Vault server
4. Point to the upgraded database server when prompted for the database

Yes, that would be the right sequence of steps.
