Branching web projects

Hi there. We are using Vault primarily for web development. I'm looking into branching of web projects, and I'd like to learn about other people's experiences with it.

I'm aware of the limitations imposed by VS.NET, as described here:

I don't want to get into a situation where the code gets screwed up because a developer forgot to perform this action. Is this rebind something that has to be done all the time, or with each new branch? Can it be scripted?

I would like to know of any tips or best practices to branch web projects as smoothly as possible.
