My vault client is installed in: c:\Program Files (x86)\SourceGear\Vault Client\
The logfile was produced by running "VaultServer_5_1_1_19215.msi" (I believe this is 32bit).
I also have the 64bit installer "VaultServer64_5_1_1_19215.msi"
My system is W7 64bit
Installer fails on Windows 7 - Vault 5.0.X (err 2738)

Open your IIS Manager, click on Application Pools, and then VaultAppPool. On the right side, click on Advanced Settings. In the window that opens, the second item from the top should be Enable 32-bit Applications. Is that set to true or false?

IIS Manager -> Advanced settings -> Enable 32-Bit Application = False
Re: Installer fails on Windows 7 - Vault 5.0.X (err 2738)
Then you will want to install the 64-bit version of Vault server, provided that is what you are trying to get installed. If you haven't installed that version or aren't sure, then you should uninstall (if any did install) and install VaultServer64_5_1_1_19215.msi, but using the same msiexec command I gave you before.
What the Vault client does won't matter in this case, because that is a 32-bit application that doesn't directly touch IIS.
If there is further confusion, you could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread, and I can take a closer look at it.

Re: Installer fails on Windows 7 - Vault 5.0.X (err 2738)
I'm sorry to bother you Beth.
All I want is to upgrade my current installation (regardless if the installed version is 32 or 64 bit)?
I gather that the installed version is 32 bit (since its installed in the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
Do I need to enable 32 bit support for the VaultAppPool? and then run the 32 bit installer?

It might be easier if I could help you offline. Then we can walk through checking what you have, determine what to install, and then get you upgraded. Could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread?
If you were running the 32-bit version, it wouldn't work since you don't have the Vault AppPool set to run as 32-bit. I think you are running the 64-bit version of the server. The Vault client would install under C:\Program Files (86), but the installs under a website that is usually under C:\inetpub\wwwroot.
