I have Vault set up to autologin so I don't have to pick a repository or specify credentials. For some reason that I have been unable to ascertain, the session WILL timeout after some time (I've checked machine.config, IIS - can't see the issue).
That's okay, because Vault can relogin. But Vault always displays the annoying "Session Timeout" box - if I've specified autologin, why do I need to see this? Just reinitialize your session and go about whatever task you need to.
Better yet - how about some sort of wizard to manage the system components that could contribute to session timeout?

Feature Request: Don't show me session timeouts

Yea, the real problem here is why you keep getting logged out. Have you changed the session timeout value in the Vault Admin Tool? (Its in the server options pane). This changes the value in the web.config file in the VaultService folder.
Also, it might be your IIS configuration that is problem. If you are using IIS6, the deault application pool recycles processes. Go to the IIS manager, application pools->Properties->Recycle and see whether any of those settings affect your Vault timeouts.

There must be another IIS setting somewhere that kills the session (or recycles the process). This appears to be an IIS 6 only issue.Scotch wrote:I have the same problem. The Vault Session Timeout is set to 4320 minutes, and the Recycle Worker Processes setting is at 1740 minutes. Still, if I check-out in the morning and check-in in the afternoon, I always get the session timed-out message.
If anyone out there knows of another setting that would affect this, post it here

Apologies if you've fixed this since the last post, but I'd second that request.
I always hibernate my laptop, rather than shut it down, so I rarely log out of the Vault client. As a result, restarting the laptop in the morning always gives me a (valid) 'session timeout' message and then Vault logins me in automatically anyway.
The message is therefore a pointless interruption.
Dave.
