new user can't see modified files

Post by porterr » Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:35 am

Hi,

I've installed vault standard on a server with three users. My user login and admin login work fine. But one user login can't see file modifications on his local machine. He has all rights and is set up the same as my user (apart from the admin user). When I login to his machine the changes show up. Access is open to all users. He has read/write/delete options same as me. This is the first user other than myself so am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks,

rob

How is the user looking for the modifications? Is that person looking in the Vault GUI client, on disk, in VS?

What does the user see in the Vault GUI client? What versions are shown for local and remote?

The user(and myself since I'm a long time user of vault) are looking in the Vault GUI after making sure the folder is set to the right working folder. This is version 1 for everything - just starting. A change is made in Visual Studio and Saved - it does not show the file as modified in the Vault GUI. Now, he logs out and logs back in as ME and the file is shown as modified.

Vault needs a refresh to see the changes. Have the user press F5 while in the Vault GUI client and the file should show up as edited, provided the change in VS was saved.

No. Refresh and save were the first things I tried. I am an experienced vault user. I have never seen this problem before.

What happens if you have the user login to a different machine? Does the user see files then? If so, then it could be the cache. Have the user rename his cache using the instructions posted here: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... 13&t=11513.

If the user can't see the files on another machine, then try recycling the VaultAppPool or perform an iisreset on the server machine. To recycle the VaultAppPool on Windows 2003 Server, open the IIS Manager, expand Application Pools, right-click VaultAppPool and select Recycle. On Windows 2008 Server, click Application Pools, then VaultAppPool, then click Recycle in the right-side pane. To perform an iisreset, just go to Start - Run and type iisreset.
