Source off site service

Post by tlpalmer » Tue Aug 17, 2004 6:39 am

Our source code server crashed and we had to reload everything. I am
trying to get source offsite to work. I have 3.5.3 loaded on our server
which is running windows 2000, but the service won't start, it is giving
me error 214.... I have loaded microsoft virtual machine for java also.

Any Ideas.

Thanks,

The 214 . . . error usually means a problem with the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. The JVM is no longer supported on Microsoft operating systems, including new service packs for Windows 2000, etc.

We have a version of the msjava.dll available for download, but if you've tried installing it on the Win 2000 machine and it doesn't work, then the only recourse is to install the SOS 3.5.3 server on a machine that already has the MS JVM or upgrade to SOS 4.0, which does not rely on the JVM.

For more information, see this KB article.

It is written for Windows 2003, but applies to any server where the JVM is a problem.
