Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
Hello all,
I have just upgraded from Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 to Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 (V11) and I am trying to figure out how to connect Vault Source Control to Dreamweaver CS5. I have the SourceGear Vault Client v4.04 installed. I am using Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.
In the previous version of dreamweaver, "SourceGear Vault" was available in my list of source control options in the remote info site settings (screenshot attached), but in the latest version, it does not appear.
I have read and followed instructions on the following post:
http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5463
but "sourcegear vault" still does not appear in CS5.
The only option under "version control" in dreamweaver CS5 is "subversion". (screenshot attached)
The options under "Servers > connect using" in dreamweaver CS5 include FTP, SFTP, LOCAL/NETWORK, WEBDAV, RDS. (screenshot attached)
I have attached screenshots of my settings that work correctly in Dreamweaver 8, and also the 2 settings panels in CS5, one of which I would expect SourceGear Vault to appear.
Should Sourcegear appear under "version control", or under the "Servers > connect using" list in CS5?
What steps do I need to follow to get this to work?
Thanks,
Lisa

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
Starting with CS4, Vault uses WebDav to connect to Dreamweaver. You will find the instructions in the Vault client manual: http://download.sourcegear.com/misc/vau ... thelp.html. Look under section 8 about WebDav (http://download.sourcegear.com/misc/vau ... ebdav.html).

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
Hi Beth,
Thanks for your fast reply, very helpful.
However, the webdav url returns a "Resource cannot be found - HTTP 404" error.
According to this topic: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... dav#p57273 Webdav-Dreamweaver integration requires Vault 5.0.x.
I'm using SourceGear Vault Client v4.04.
Can you please confirm if we'll also have to upgrade our vault version before we can get this to work, or is there another option?
Thanks,
Lisa

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
Can you open a Vault GUI client, login, then go to Help - Technical Support and copy the information from there to me? That will tell me more about your client and server

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
The version of Vault you are on doesn't support CS5. I looked up your company account based on your email address and it looks like upgrading might be an option for you. To verify this, you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread and we can discuss further what your licenses are.

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
Hi Beth,
We have now upgraded our Vault version to 5.0.4 and I have successfully made the connection and checked out and checked in files via dreamweaver cs5. Thank you for your help with this.
However, in the older version of dreamweaver we currently use, we refer to the check in comments to ensure that the correct files are published to our websites, and I notice that the new webdav method puts in a standard comment instead of allowing the dreamweaver user to enter their own comment. Is there any way around this?
Thanks,
Lisa

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
I have also noticed that the WEBDAV response times are extremely slow compared to the previous connection method used by the old version of dreamweaver. Eg - Quite a few minutes to synchronise a site compared to less than a minute previously.
Is there any way to improve the connection speed of WEBDAV, and add check-in comments as per my previous post?

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
We don't currently support comments in WebDav. I can put in a feature request if you would like.
You are correct that WebDav is slower than the .DLL, but it should work across more versions of Dreamweaver than the .dll could.
You can improve performance over all by implementing the suggestions in this KB article: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=4206. Also, SQL maintenance really improves performance: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=2924.

Re: Dreamweaver CS5 and SourceGear Vault Integration
Hi there, I am just started using Adobe dreamweaver CS5 and as I see it, it is way too different than Macromedia Dreamweaver. Is there any tutorial that anyone here knows so that I can learn Adobe dreamweaver quick? My friends told me it is better to use in it web designing than Macromedia so I like to learn about it.
