Dual boot repository

Dual boot repository
I have XP and Windows 7 installed on a dual boot system and want to be able to use the same Vault repository on both os's, is this possible?
Re: Dual boot repository
Are you planning to run the Vault Client or the Vault server on this machine?

Re: Dual boot repository
I'm using the vault server and client from the same machine, using the free license as it's for personal development and I detest sourcesafe with a passion and let it burn in hell. It was good once, but MS never updated it.
I have a 2nd machine, although I don't particular want to have that as the vault server as having 1 pc on in the room is noisy and warm enough as it is, they kick out quite a bit of heat and it's wasteful of power.
Ideally, i'd like the windows 7 vault server to point to the same repository that XP uses.

Re: Dual boot repository
You could run the client on a dual boot system, though you'd need to have a working directory and client-side cache location that would be accessible, whatever OS you were in at a particular time. You would probably need to use a 2nd disk / partition available from BOTH booted OSs.
You could change the default cache location to this shared location and store the State/Baseline files in the working folder. We haven't tested this, with a dual-boot system though. This setting is in the Vault Client under Tools->Options->Local Files->Cache Location.
But the Vault server wouldn't work because it's a web service that runs in IIS, and you'd have two different IIS implementations in your dual-boot scenario, only one of which would be available at any particular time.
