Can't add solution to source control 2.0.4

Post by leabre » Wed Aug 04, 2004 9:24 pm

Greetings,

My client is WinXP Pro SP1 (all updates), PIII1G, 512MB Ram, yada yada... VS.NET 2003 EA

My Server is Win2k Server Sp3 (all updates) P4 1.7G, 1.5Gb Ram, Sql 2k Ent Sp3.

I originally installed Vault 2.0 (Personal) and now I've upgraded to 2.0.4 (after much heartache I was able to get everything working)... Now, when I add a solution (from within the IDE) to source control, Vault creates the folders that belong in the solution but never adds any files and then the IDE just "hangs" indefinately with 0% CPU time.

What should I do?

Thanks,
Shawn

Have you been able to add files from the GUI client? (is this is an IDE issue or a file upload issue)? If it is a file upload issue, check out the knowledge base, which contains some articles about what to do if you can't upload files.

I tried to "add" the files from the GUI client and the exact same thing happened. I just gave up and put my project into sourcesafe. I'll go scan the knowledge base and see what I come up with.

[Edit 1]: I watched the Messages view while adding them (from the GUI client) and it froze on the "add ...AssemblyInfo.cs" and that is as far as it ever gets. I am not given a reason.

I couldn't find the knowledgebase issue I was looking for. If you mean the one about disabling anonymous access and so on, all that has already been taken care of and there are no firewalls.

Look at http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=735, which troubleshoots upload errors. It is likely there is something on your client or server that is preventing files from being sent to the server.

I fixed the problem. It turns out that, even though I don't have a proxy server, Vault had an option checked to use one. Once I unchecked it everything worked fine.

Thanks,
Shawn
