Request: Make dialogs not modal

Post by Guest » Thu Sep 30, 2004 3:06 pm

Currently, a lot of Vault's dialogs (checkin/checkout/etc) are modal. This can be very annoying when I'm checking in a file through the IDE and want to cut-and-paste something (a class name, whatever) into my checkin comments.

I found that a bit annoying at times as well, but then i found out that you can right click on a file in the treeview during a checkin and do a compare.

If you want to copy and paste bits, you can always write your comment in notepad then paste it into the check in comment field, or use the Pending Check in window.

My office is having a similar issue with the shelving being modal. Items like History and Show Difference are not modal, but when shelving, we are unable to view data in Visual Studio without either closing the shelve window or opening a new instance of Visual Studio.

I have put in a feature request to change the nature of the shelving windows to not be modal. Thank you for your feedback.
