Suggestion: Remove completed actions from pending actions
If a user is using Vault integrated into Visual Studio and performs actions that result in pending deletions, etc. in the Vault Pending Checkins window. Then the user switches to Vault Client and happens to do one or more of the actions that are pending, the user ends up with a namespace conflict error.
Could Vault Client not simply remove the actions from the Pending Checkins list when they are committed through the Vault Client?
Another weird side-effect is that not all Pending Checkins visible in the integrated client are visible in the Vault Client.

So that I can try to recreate what you are seeing, I will need more details. In VS, are you using the Vault Classic Client or the Vault Enhanced Client?
Exactly what types of files are you performing the actions on? What exactly did you delete and what exactly did you commit?
Do you ever refresh in either client? In VS, that would be under File - Vault Source Control - Refresh Source Control Status.

Using the Enhanced VS client. Any type of file, typically .cs source files. Using VSS style checkouts. I've refreshed the standalone client using an F5 key press. Didn't think I'd need to refresh the integrated client as technically the changes were "made pending" by that client.
Re: Suggestion: Remove completed actions from pending actions
What makes a difference is the information in the cache. Both clients will look at the same cache, but they need to read the information from there first.
It sounds like you would prefer it to be more automatic. For example, maybe a change in the Vault GUI client would cause a refresh in any IDE client so that it has the changes right away. I can put in a feature request for that if you would like.

Re: Suggestion: Remove completed actions from pending actions
Automatic refresh of the cache would be great, however the actual feature suggestion is to remove pending actions from the "cache" when they are performed by the user in the standalone client.
Re: Suggestion: Remove completed actions from pending actions
It would be a refresh that will cause what you need. I have the feature request entered now.
Back on the namespace error you mentioned in your original post. Does that one happen on deletes or only on adds or other check ins?

Re: Suggestion: Remove completed actions from pending actions
It happens with all pending items that are actioned and committed using the standalone client.

Can you post the entire error you get?
