Viewing labels in a folder causes session disconnect?

Post by bpd » Tue Aug 03, 2004 1:47 am

I have been trying to use the Label functionality at the Folder level, after successfully Labelling a folder following a product release I thought I would take a look at the the results of the Show Labels... option.

Instantly the Show Label dialog pops up, with my version label as expected, but just as instantly it then disappears with a message saying that my Session Is No Longer Valid. If however I task switch with Alt+Tab my Show Label dialog is still there and active it would seem?

Any ideas what could be causing this?

It's possible that the show labels command is triggering a server error which is resetting the server. Can you look at your Vault server log, which is located in c:\windows\temp\sgvault on the server machine? Does it show a starting message at around the time of the show labels error? Is there an error message right before the startup message?

Sadly not

There are no error messages at startup of the Vault Client, until I click on the Show Labels it all appears to be working normally?

The Vault Log shows nothing untoward either, it simply shows me logging on, logging off etc etc for the whole day

After resolving most of my other issues with Vault so far (thanks for a great support forum) I am back to this last issue.

I have a snippet of new information, as mentioned in an earlier post the Show Labels dialog does actually appear and if Im quick enough I can jump to the 'Recursive Labels' tab, the entire list just shows the word 'Retrieving' and then the dialog appears informing me of 'Session No Longer Valid'.

Incidently this also appears to be an intermittent problem, Ive just discovered if you keep constantly retrying the 'Show Labels' command eventually it works at least once in the session without the annoying dialog and the word 'Retrieving' is replaced with actual label data.

Any more ideas peoples?

bpd,

Can you post or email what your debug server log looks like when the error is encountered?

Im guessing its something to do with the System Started message...this is running on Windows 2003 and I have already been through the Windows 2003/IIS6 FAQ and setup recommendations to prevent Threads being recycled etc
