The Vault server could not be contacted....

I'm running into a problem with a new repository.

I've just finished migrating the data from VSS up to my new Vault repository. Everything went thru fine. The data was migrated and there were no errors from the migration tool. I was able to go in as the administrator and see the files.

The problem started when I went to the administration tool and tried to modified the new repositorys security. The admin tool just sat there doing nothing. When I then tried to open up the repository again it gave the following message:

"The Vault server could not be contacted to perform the operation. Your network connection to the server may ave been interrupted."

When I click on the "Okay" button, it will show me the files, but it won't let me check out or add new files to the repository.

Do you have sharepoint installed on the same web site as the server? Often, sharepoint will mess up the web.config for all ASP.net apps on the same website. Another possibility is that there is a network piece that is timing out the connection.

We don't have sharepoint installed on that server.

I can go in thru the default website and download the files that are in a repository, but the client tool will give me the error.

This turned out to be a bug in the way that Vault handles cookies. This bug has now been corrected and the fix will be included in Vault 2.0.5
