Edit undone for rename, directory rename and edit
(This is not something I do every day but anyway) in a single transaction:

This should work in Vault 5.0.
In earlier versions, a rename and edit are not allowed in the same transaction.

Re: Edit undone for rename, directory rename and edit
I followed these steps:
Is this reproducible?
And everything checked in fine, so I may be missing something.* The directory that holds the file is renamed
* The file is renamed
* The file is edited
Is this reproducible?

Re: Edit undone for rename, directory rename and edit
No, it does not seem that I can reproduce the problem.
But I have discovered that the command line utility cannot check-out the file that has been renamed it says something like:
Error: No object was found at the repository path: $/...

Re: Edit undone for rename, directory rename and edit
If the rename has not been committed to the repository, then the Command Line Client can't find it. You may be seeing the rename in your GUI Client, but that's just a cached view.
I'd suggest deleting the client-side cache, as it may be out of sync with the database. Close any open clients first.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest we schedule a remote assist session where I can take a closer look. Email support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.
