Hello,
I have set VAULT on a dedicated server with the latest version of the software running on WS 2008 with SQL Server 2005.
Performance is not an issue when using the Vault Client or VS. But the users using Dreamweaver with WebDav connection (exclusive lock) are experencing very slow performance.
Has anyone else seen this. Are there any recommendation on how to get better WebDav performance.
Thanks,
Fletcher

Do you use folder security?
How much of a slowdown are you seeing?
Which version of Dreamweaver are you using?

Re: Vault - Dreamweaver - WebDav Performance
We are not using folder security. We are using Dreamweaver CS4.
The delay to check checkout and retrive a 5k .asp file can be almost 1 min.
Please let me know what other information would be helpful
Thanks,
Fletcher

Re: Vault - Dreamweaver - WebDav Performance
Let's get some logging going to collect additional information.
1) Increase the logging on your Vault Server Log from quiet to debug. Saving the change will disconnect all Vault users, so you may need to do this at a convenient time.
2) Dreamweaver logging. In CS3 you could go to Site - Advanced - FTP Log to find the log.
3) Your IIS logs are normally found at C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 If you changed the location, then the path can be found in your IIS Manager.
4) To set logging for sgdav, open the web.config found in the sgdav virtual directory and set vaultLogPath to the full path and name of an accessible file.
With all logging ready to go, start an action with Dreamweaver that is slow. Make note of the time you started the action and the time you finished the action. After the action is finished, collect all the logs. You can either post them here (and you can remove them when we're finished) or send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread and the log files.

Re: Vault - Dreamweaver - WebDav Performance
We just released Vault 5.0.3 that includes some changes to our integration with webdav, and that includes a performance improvement. Try that out and see if it helps.
