VSS import tool failing/crashing

Post by rda » Wed Jan 06, 2010 1:17 pm

Hi,

So I'm trying to import all of our VSS projects into Vault - there are a total of 20 folders in these projects, but only 15 imported properly. With the failed folders, the import tool crashed partway through (always the same place for each of the 5 folders). Is there any way I can import these by ignoring specific files or histories or anything like that? I would really like to be able to import as much as possible; using Handoff Sources is not a good option because we are trying to eliminate the use of and dependence upon VSS entirely.

Thanks!

You can't select specific files or parts of history, but you can import some folders and not others by importing one folder at a time, which might help.

We can take a look at the logs to see if we can determine why the import crashed. Send us Vault Server log ( It's called sgvault.log and is in %windir%\temp\sgvault on the server machine) and the Import log file from the VSS Import tool directory. Send the logs zipped up to support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.
