How do you delete a shelveset?

Post by shaulbehr » Wed Oct 21, 2009 7:34 am

I know the option exists to automatically delete a shelveset after you unshelve it - but for some reason every time I've tried this I get an error message that Vault failed to delete the shelveset.
Why am I getting this error?
And is there any way of deleting a shelveset from the GUI client?

There are some cases where the shelveset cannot be deleted.

The cases where you can't automatically delete the shelveset are:
  • There is no working folder set for the destination of one of the items in a shelveset.
A newer version of a file has been checked in since the change was shelved and the working folder file has not been edited.
There is an edited file in the working folder at the location. If you left the file or a file with the same name sitting there in its edited form, that would fall under this scenario.
You can still delete the shelvesets in these cases by using the web client. Only the auto delete is affected by these cases.

If your shelveset does not fall into any of these cases, then let me know and I'll post some next steps.

You can also delete shelvesets from the Find Shelveset dialog using the context menu or delete key, if you are the owner of the shelveset.
