Vault 4.1.4 Logging

Post by Cypher » Mon Nov 16, 2009 2:14 pm

Hi,

Our vault server had always had logging set to archive weekly.
However since we have upgraded to Vault 4.1.4 it does not appear to be doing this. Instead we have one large sgvault.log file which is just accumulating data.
This file has now reached a size of 480MB, so looking through this file to resolve issues is near impossible.

The file is being saved into %SYSTEMROOT%\Temp\sgvault
Log Level is set to Quiet
Use Reverse DNS is checked

Is anyone else having this problem?
How can it be resolved?

Try renaming your Vault server log and recycle your Vault App Pool. To recycle your Vault App Pool, open your IIS Manager, expand the server name and Application Pools. Right-click Vault App Pool and select Recycle. It won't look like it did much, but it probably did the recycle. In the new log, you would see a longer entry that starts with System Started.

What the recycle should do is force the settings to be loaded again. If it's not archiving after that, check that your setting for archiving is still set to what you wanted.
