Vault Client 4.1 and 5 Side-By-Side Install?

Post by daboy1216 » Fri Oct 23, 2009 7:24 am

Can the Vault Clients 4.1 and 5.0 be installed side-by-side on a machine? We have a customer who wants us to use their Vault server, but it is at a different version than ours. Thanks in advance for any help!

It's not a supported configuration and we don't test this way for functionality, but there is a way to do this with the clients.

Install 4.1 client and move the folder it installed at to a different location. Then install Vault 5. The shortcuts and IDE integration will be taken by Vault 5, but Vault 4.1 can still be run from its new location. If both need IDE integration, then you might try a registry switcher to change the registry settings between the two.

Thanks, I will test that.

BTW, what's a "registry switcher"?

A registry switcher holds two sets of registry settings so that you can quickly flip between your registry settings being one way versus another. If you run a google search, you'll find some. I think there's a few free ones out there too.
