Fortress Item Number in Source Code

When you check in a source code file you can link the checkin to a Fortress Item. This updates the status of the item and when you view the item you can see the list of source files that were modified as part of addressing the item.

Is there a way to get Fortress to put the item number into the source code file (ie a keyword) so that the cross reference works in both directions?

When you are adding the bug to check in against, look at your comments section. In the current version, the item number you check in against is automatically entered into the comments. Would that provide you with what you need?

I can put in a feature request for a keyword if the comments aren't providing you with what you need.

Is this a new feature in 2.X? We are currently using 1.1

If the Fortress item number automatically gets put into the Comments and ends up in the soource file under the $Log$ keyword, that would do the trick.

Try using the browse button to select which bug to check in against. That should add the bug information into the comment.

Beth, you're talking about the check-in comment inside Fortress which can be seen during a Show History, right? Not a comment section within an individual source code file?

Yes, I'm still talking about getting the item number plugged into the comments inside Fortress. For getting them inside of the actual file, I will need to put in a feature request.
