Label questions or problems
I labelled a single file in my repository using 4.1.4 of the SourceGear Vault Client. I can view the label on the file fine when I select Show Labels on that file. When I do Show Labels from the containing folder the label does not appear. Is it supposed to? I looked in the Recursive Labels tab and have Files and Folders selected by this file with its label will not appear.
This all started because I wanted to automate a build process and use GETLABEL to just get the files marked with the particular label. That did not work - it stated something like it couldn't find the label. So I went to the Client and sure enough it doesn't show the file with its label. Am I misunderstanding how labels works?

Re: Label questions or problems
You should be able to see the label when you Show Labels recursively from the parent folder.
Can you Get the labeled file when you Show Labels on the file itself.
If you log in from a different machine or as a different user, can you see the label?

Re: Label questions or problems
Yes I was able to see it when I did Show Labels on the file itself.
I just tried Show Labels from another machine and yes it does work there. Is there something I need to "reset" on my machine?

Re: Label questions or problems
I'd suggest deleting the client-side cache, as it may be out of sync with the database. Close any open clients first.

Let me know if this does not resolve the problem.

Re: Label questions or problems
Maybe I did it wrong but my label is still not appearing. I went to Tools\Options and clicked the Reset Repository Cache button. I closed the Client, opened it again, and went to Show Labels on the folder. Still nothing, but Show Folders on the file works.
Re: Label questions or problems
I just tried deleting all of my local client cache and it still does not appear. I wiped all cache files and folders. I lost my Working Folder settings but I could add them back in, but the label will still not appear in Show Labels for any parent folder.
Re: Label questions or problems
Did you restart IIS after you closed the clients and cleared the cache?
Could you send a screenshot of what you see logged into another machine with your username and what you see on your own machine, logged in with your username? If you prefer, you can send the screenshots to support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.

Re: Label questions or problems
I didn't do anything at the server. With all of the developers here it is hard to do anything with server itself. I did try it with my login on another machine and it didn't appear there either. Before I had tried with a different login and it appeared. I've attached screen shots.

Re: Label questions or problems
Ok, so this is specific to your user account, not to a client machine.
Are you using Folder Security? The labels you're not seeing are applied to a subfolder of $/PAMmort 2009. Can you see the $/PAMmort 2009/Mortgag. . . folder in the tree?
If you're not using Folder Security, or have full access to $/PAMmort 2009/Mortgag. . . Are there any errors in the Vault Server log that correspond to the show labels issue? The Vault Server log is called sgvault.log and is in %windir%\temp\sgvault on the server machine.

Re: Label questions or problems
I would think I would full access to the folder. I am to see the full folder path to the file. I am able to check in/add/etc to any of the folders $/PAMmort 2009.
I actually have folder label at $/PAMmort 2009 that gets inherited by all sub-folders. I can see this find in the Show Labels\Label tabm so I would believe I have full access - unless file labels use a different security check.
I will have to request Vault server log from our source control department.

Re: Label questions or problems
I had our SourceGear administrator also look into the problem. She is able to see the labels fine with her login. She also said there were no errors in the SourceGear vault log and that I do have full rights.
Re: Label questions or problems
Your full rights could be modified in your in a group that doesn't have rights to those folders, etc.
Send me a screen shot of your access rights from the Vault Admin Web Client. It would be in Server Settings->Users-><yourusername>->Overview.
Send it to support at sourcegear.com, Attn: Linda. Please include a link to this forum post.
