Checking in file issue

Post by vtpsu99 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 12:16 pm

We are having a similar problem as a post with the subject "Checking in a file problem" which was taken offline to answer. We have a user that that added a .prg file to the repository and now every time they check the file out and make changes then go to check it back in, it shows two items with the exact same path (same file name) with one having a type as "Modified" and the other type as "Add File". Does anyone know what could have caused this issue?

Client Information
Vault Client Version: 4.1.4.18402
.Net Framework Version: 2.0.50727.3082
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32-bit

Could you post the link to the thread you are referencing?

Can the user right-click and check in only the edited file or does it give an error?

Can other users see the file in their Vault clients? If they can't, then the original add may not have been committed.

Beth,

The thread I am referencing is http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... le+problem

In the Check In dialogue box the user can have only the item with the "Modified" status checked and check that in with no problems. Also, other users are able to see the program in the Vault client.

I am unsure if that user wrote.

When the item is not checked out, does it have a plus sign by it or a lock?

When it is not checked out, there isn't a plus sign nor lock beside it. Would this have been the same place that you see the check sign (when it is checked out)?

That is correct. You might also possible see a green circle with a check if you are using the Enhanced Client in CVS mode. Are you saying there isn't any indication of source code control on that file until you check it out?

Should all files have a plus sign or a lock beside it at all times? None of our files have that but i am sure that the source control is working for all the other files. It has the page beside it with the file name and indicates the number of local versions and remote versions along with status. I can send a screen shots if that will be an easier way to determine the root of the issue.

That might be good. You can either post them here and remove them when this is done, or we can take this offline. You can send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread and a screenshot if you wish.
