newbie question - make Vault your default SCC...

Post by Don Robinson » Tue Jul 13, 2004 10:22 am

My reading of the documentation suggests that accepting this installation option (a) sets a global option for all repositories that may be used by a particular client, and (b) if I decline the option, my checkin/checkout/etc. are done solely through the Vault Client and not through Dev Studio.

Q: does anything irrevocable change when/if I make Vault my default SCC provider?

I am working through translating a group of repositories, and I want to keep the option of using VSS (on untranslated repositories) until all the repositories are translated. My hope is that this is a toggle that will not permanently affect the project files that make use of particular repositories.

Help clarifying this situation is appreciated!

You can set the SCC provider option at any time after installing Vault (under Tools-.Options->General), and if you unset it later, it should restore your previous SCC provider.
