Errors with Fortress

Post by baburnell » Mon Jun 08, 2009 9:53 am

Hi all,

I recently updated from Vault to Fortress v1.1.4. The server it is running on is Windows 2003. The problem comes when we load the client. After a client load (XP Pro), Visual Studio 2005/2008, SQL Server 2005, Internet Explorer, and Novell Groupwise all come up with a COM error. So far the only way I have been able to resolve it is to load or reload IE8 on those machines.

Also, how do you connect Fortress to FoxPro 9 and Visual Studio 2005/2008? Within VS, there should be am option for "View -> Other Windows -> Fortress", but I don't see it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Brett

Could you post the COM error or a screenshot?

Are you able to bring up the item tracking in a browser?

Can you use the Browse Fortress Items from the Fortress GUI client?

What do you have set in Visual Studio under Tools - Options - Source Control?

We don't support FoxPro and don't test with it, so I'm not sure if it one can get the work item tracking up on that one. For this troubleshoot, we'll focus on Visual Studio.

Yes. I have a picture and I don't see how to upload an attachment here. It's too long to type out for sure. I just finally figured out how to setup Fortress within VS 2008, but I am still getting a blank screen under the "Connect to Fortress" toolbar. I successfully loaded a solution from Fortress so I think that's ok. I am definitely concerned about the error after install though. It also looks like it may have caused an error in Foxpro. It is getting a registry error when it is opened.

Also, yes the tracking works fine in the web interface and regular GUI client. It does not work within VS though to browse.

Oops. Almost forgot. I am apparently running the advanced client. There's no option other than that and <none>.

Got your reply. Thanks. I will try that the next computer that happens on. I am really surprised (re-)loading IE 8 fixed it though!
