If people checkin/out with Visual Studio, will the "quiet" logging option be able to capture that in sgvault.log?
One of our developers said he did the check in with visual studio on Friday and did not get any error. However, today he went to look for the updated version of the checked in file, it doesn't show any updated info in that file and the history shows nothing about his checked in on Friday either.

The server log would show errors when a user is using Visual Studio with the IDE integration as well. Most likely his bindings are either offline or need to be remade.
Can you tell me if you are using the Enhanced Client or the Classic Client with Visual Studio?

He uses Enhanced Client in VS.
He cannot replicate the problem he had last Friday. Is the serverlog only record if the checkin in VS fails?

In the user's temp folder there will be some client-side logs as well. On XP that would be %username%/local settings/temp. Look for a file called VaultIDElog.txt, or something like that.
