Sourcegear and Windows 7
I unfortunately have a client who is stuck on Vault 3.5, I am trying to install 3.5 on Windows 7. I know 3.5 did not have Vista support, but it worked just fine. I have been using it for a couple years. I am now running the Windows 7 RC and when I install Vault 3.5.2 it breaks VS2008 and SQL Server 2005. What I mean by break is that the server explorer in VS2008 and the object explorer in SQL 2005 throw COM exceptions after install.
I have narrowed it down to Vault by doing system restores. It works, install 3.5.2 client, broken. Vault 4+ works fine on Windows 7.
I have found a similar article, with the exact same error here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums ... bbb7756a20. That article provides some solutions, non of which have worked.
I know this is not a supported issue, but I am hoping to get a possible solution.

Re: Sourcegear and Windows 7
First, I would suggest trying Vault 3.5.3 since that's the last set up updates for the 3.5.x version.
Are you trying to install the client or the server onto Windows 7?

Re: Sourcegear and Windows 7
First off, thanks for the response. I just restored and reinstalled with 3.5.3, and I suffer the same issue. I am installing the client on Windows 7, and connecting to the server on Windows Server 2003.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Can you post the exact error? Is it logged in your client's Event Viewer?
What error is showing up in your Vault Server Log?

Re: Sourcegear and Windows 7
The error is not occurring in vault, but as soon as I install vault then the server explorer in Visual studio and the Object explorer in SQL server through COM exception when trying to browse local server.
This has been recreated now, 4+ times, and I have narrowed it down specifically to Vault. It works, install vault, does not work, roll back and it works again.
Like in the article I linked to in the first post, they were getting same error under different circumstances. I tried there resolutions anyway, but they have not worked for me.
I really appreciate your help on this!!!! Thanks.
Code: Select all

I have tried that, I referenced the MSDN article that your link uses. I have re-registerd that DLL, with no luck.
Again, same error, but this is a fresh install of everything.
Thanks for your time and help
