Option to disable automatic check out?

Option to disable automatic check out?
Is there an option somewhere to disable the automatic checkout of files when editted from within Visual Studio? Several of the developers on my team have asked how they can turn that off. Apparently occassionally they accidentally start typing in a file they did not mean to edit, and Fortress automatically checks out the file. I looked for an option, but could not find one.

Re: Option to disable automatic check out?
This isn't available in the Enhanced Client -- I'll add a feature request.
If you're using the Classic integration, you can change this in VS in Tools->Options->Source Control->Environment.

Re: Option to disable automatic check out?
Hi Linda,
I'm just checking in to see if this option has been added to the enhanced client yet? We're interested in this feature as well.
Thanks

Re: Option to disable automatic check out?
This has been implemented for Vault 5.0 You will have the option to get a prompt before files are checked out.
Vault 5.0 is currently out in beta:

Thanks Linda, that's great news. Two things:
1) I'm geting an error trying to browse to the link you posted: http://sgsupport.sourcegear.com/helpspo ... qid=215861
2) How does a Vault upgrade work with Fortress? I know Fortress uses Vault, but can I just apply a Vault upgrade on top of Fortress? Will I need to upgrade both client and server?
Thanks again

Re: Option to disable automatic check out?
1) The correct link should be: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic ... 44&t=11558. I updated it in her post.
2) Vault and Fortress are two separate products. Fortress includes all the features of Vault all by itself. If you use Fortress, do not install any Vault products with it.

Re: Option to disable automatic check out?
OK, thanks for the info. Since we're using Fortress, it sounds like that the new Vault beta version won't help me. Any plans on adding that functionality into Fortress?

In that same link is the Fortress 2.0 beta. It should have the same functionality.
