Server plug-in for cross-Repository file sharing

Anyone have any desire to build a server plug-in that would support cross-Repository file sharing?

SourceGear - any plans on supporting cross-Repository file sharing in future releases?

For those of you who are rolling your eyes at the notion of cross-Repository file sharing.. I would too if I didn't inherit the current architecture.

Ironically, the best solution for our problem of not being able to specify the same working folder for multiple projects in the same repository is to break our projects out into separate Repositories. However, we have some files which are shared between our "Base" and the individual "Client" projects which means we need cross-Repository file sharing. Sadly, Vault doesn't support this out of the box.

So, again, anyone up for developing a server plug-in to do this?

I have a feature request open, so I can add your "vote" to it. Currently I don't have any new information on this. I don't know when or if it will make a release. I do know it won't make Vault 5.0.

Are all the files in the same folder or is it sort of sporadic?

Sadly, it is sporadic. We are trying to consolidate as many files as possible and eliminate the majority of the sharing.

However, there are a handful of critical files which are spread over four-five projects and shared from our "Base" down through all of our "Clients". These, given their nature, are not consolidating well.

I appreciate you looking into possible workarounds. If we were able to consolidate the shared files to a single folder, what would the workaround entail?

I am not saying we will (or can, for that matter), but I am interested in knowing the details of the possible workaround.
