Hello,
I sure hope someone is reading this today and can help me! I'm in a jam... For some reason when I restore my Vault Repository, while the Vault says the restore was successful, when I look at the file structure it has not changed. I am using the Vault Service web Admin site. I've had no problems in the past with restore. I even tried restoring to a "empty" backup I'd made with the same results. Please help!
Vault Restore Still Shows Old File Structure

Re: Vault Restore Still Shows Old File Structure
I think I've discovered the reason for my problem and thought I would post back here in case anyone else has the same problem. It turns out that after Restoring a Vault Backup through the Admin Website if I do not Restart Web Services I do not see the (restored) changes in my Repository. Moreover, on my client I must delete the Vault_1 temp dir in Application Data before I can see the proper (restored) file structure. Is this expected behaviour?
Re: Vault Restore Still Shows Old File Structure
The client maintains a cache with information about the repository folder tree. Also, the server has an in-memory cache. So it makes sense that updating the cache(s) might be needed if you restore a backup of the database.

Re: Vault Restore Still Shows Old File Structure
Personally I feel that the Vault Service should automatically restart the service after a db restore. At the *very* least the application should either a) notify the user of the need to restart the service or b) prompt to do this for the user. I spent hours trying to understand this behaviour over the weekend! I could not find any reference to this issue on these forums or via Google.
Re: Vault Restore Still Shows Old File Structure
It's not always necessary to restart IIS after doing a restore, but we you're right, we should have some documentation on what to do when users get these errors after restoring a backup. Thanks for the suggestion.
