Management Studio supports storing files in VSS. I can't find anything that says what api management studio uses, but I am guessing the classic client will work. Is there any info on using Vault inside M.S. with either client?
Also, Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) in SS 2005 is a variant of Visual Studio. Is there any info on using Vault to store BI projects and database definitions for SQL Server Analysis Services databases?

Re: SQL Server Management Studio and BIDS support
Development tools that use Microsofts MSSCCI integration *might* work with Vault/Fortress, since our "Classic Client" integration is MSSCCI. However we haven't tested Vault with these development environments and don't officially support them. There may be problems we can't resolve, like the sequence of calls being different.
If any Vault users have experience with api managements studio or BIDS, please post here.

Re: SQL Server Management Studio and BIDS support
I happened to Google a similar query to the subject line of this topic and found a very similar response by you about 3 years ago. I was hoping SSMS support had been added in one of the new versions that have come out since then. What is happening at my work is that dozens of developers are going to start using Vault in the next few months, and I'm trying to get them to use Vault to store their database code too. (I'm the DBA for the SQL Server servers they use.) Right now, they use the database as the source code storage and there is no organized way to deal with multiple people making changes to stored procedures or views. I have some BI developers who store all their code on their local systems. Not only is that risky, but they also have no way to collaborate on a project. This is a very common situation for both database and BI developers. As a programmer/DBA for over 30 years, I know the importance of source control, and I would like to be able to have database developers use source control too. I would hope ya'll can figure out how to make Vault work with M.S. and BIDS before another 3 years goes by. I'll be happy to beta-test or help out in any other way if it will help move things along.
Re: SQL Server Management Studio and BIDS support
Thanks for the feedback. We've had a lot on our plate, development-wise, with features like Shelve and a new VSS Import tool:

But I'll add your comments to feature request 10511 for SQL Server versioning and bump it up in priority.
