Understanding Branching in Vault

Post by abriggs » Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:57 am

We would like to maintain two copies of the projects that are currently stored in our web projects repository in Vault. One copy of the projects in the web projects repository will configured to use SQL Server 2008 server; while the existing copy will be kept in tack for maintenance (This copy is configured to use SQL Server 2005). Will I have to setup branching in Vault? Can the branches be independent of each other? Meaning, I don't want the changes made in one branch to be reflected in another branch? How do I go about setting up branching in Vault? How do we connect to a branch in Visual Studio 2008? When we have fully migrated to SQL Server 2008, how can we merge the changes made in both branches into one single branch?

Thanks.
