Re: Error granting permissions. The path is not of a legal form.
Anyone seen this before or have any ideas?
Re: Error granting permissions. The path is not of a legal form.
I'm getting the same error, though I'm running it as MACHINENAME\ASPNET. It doesn't stop the installation, though, and everything works great, except connecting via the client and IDE. I can connect easily through IE or Firefox, even using the ASMX test page, but the client and IDE both give me 401: Access Denied errors.
It's a bit of a pain, since I've been using Vault on my workstation for nearly five months with no problems, but the second I try to put it on a production box, it's giving me grief.
I've gone through and made sure anonymous access is enabled, the anonymous user password never expires, and Sharepoint isn't installed, and no matter what, I get the error. Even running the client GUI on the server itself can't connect. I'm sure it's some sort of permissions/authentication error, but I have no idea where. Hopefully the support line will find a solution.

Re: Error granting permissions. The path is not of a legal form.
Are you both logged in as Domain or machine Admin when you do the installation?

Re: Error granting permissions. The path is not of a legal form.
I was logged in as a user with Admin rights, but not the Administrator account.
Re: Error granting permissions. The path is not of a legal form.
You may have a hosed IIS install. Wiping out IIS (uninstalling from Add/Remove Programs), then reinstalling it completely solved my problems.
Re: Error granting permissions. The path is not of a legal form.
The .NET framework needs to be installed after IIS usually for proper functioning. There is a chance it could be IIS, but I do see it complaining about giving permissions to SQL in the first post.
What IIS process model is being selected during install?
How are you connecting to the SQL server?
Is the SQL server on the same machine or a different machine?
Are you installing on a Domain Controller?
