HI,
I have been using vault on a local server and decided to set it up on a shared type hosting. I installed a fresh copy of vault on my 32 bit xp and using SQL Authentication pointed the install to the SQL server on my hosting. Install went fine and i then uploaded all the vault files to my server.
I can get to the web services etc I just can't log on. reviewing many posts in the server and in the sgvault.log kept coming back to There is probably an error with the encrypted password for the sgvaultuser database user.
Now the server is 64bit so i figured that was the problem, following the instructions from a few different posts i changed my web.config pwd to be the same as the password that i used for admin. didn't work. i also logged into the sgmaster.users and took the encrypted password from there and put in the web.config. didn't work. i then changed that pw in the sgmaster.users to clear text and replicated that in the web.config and still didn't work. i had also changed the password for the sgvaultuser to make sure that they were all the same and i just can't seem to get it together.
reinstalling on the host server is not really an option so any help i can get is much appreciated.

When you modified the web.config file, did you change "pwd" to "password" in the connection string when you wrote the password in the clear?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes i had tried changing it to pwd = password .
i have full access to the db and web.conifg, is there any default type settings i can enter into the web.config and also the DB to just 'reset' it?
thanks again.

The registry on the Vault Server machine must not be getting modified properly. Are you logged in as Administrator on the Vault Server machine?
If you are I'd suggest uninstalling, leaving the database. Then check the registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\SourceGear\Vault server and delete that key info. Then reinstall.

HI,
thanks again for the reply.
I have dedicated hosting in a virtual server, and dont' have direct access to install applications. So i had tried to method of installing locally and uploading everything.
As mentioned earlier i can get everything working but just have that connection issue which i presume may be related to installing on a 32bit xp and uploading to a 64Bit server.
I also have a copy installed localy but was hoping to move it up to the server. If i can't get it going then thats ok i'll keep my local copy running, Originally i thought there might be a way to reset the passwords.
thanks again.

Re: Could not load connect string
The installer does a certain amount of configuration, writes to the registry, and sets permissions on various directories during installation, so just making a copy of the installation files and uploading them to the host wouldn't work. If you are interested in a hosted solution for Vault, you might check with our partners, OrcsWeb and AbnHost.
