Performance, Vault client

Post by pjh » Wed Jun 16, 2004 1:13 pm

We have some problems with the checkin function on our server running this demoversion of Vault.

We are running V. 2.0.3 and the server OS is WIN2003 server on 3 GHz, ½ GB ram and pritty standard hardware for the test setup. The clients are running on XP. The LAN is standard 100 Mbit domain.

The problem:
On one client the checkin of a 100 MB zip file takes about 3 min. until we get the "end of transaction". :D
Other clients gets this time out after 3 retry and the transaction fails with the same zip file. :( With a 50 MB file we have succes on these clients.
The clients are in the same setup and on apx. the same hardware, 1½ GHz, 0,75 - 1 GB ram.

Any one got an answer on why we get this time out on some of our clients ??? And is there a work around with this problem ???

The problem is probably related to only having 512MB of RAM on the server. IIS likes to hog a lot of memory on large file transfers, and it is likely that a 100MB file will cause problems if there is only 512MB of RAM to begin with. If you put 1GB of RAM in the server, it should be able to handle the 100MB file without any problems.

Hi Dan.

Thanks !

We will try to put in another 1 GB into the server. But the server is a common component and shoud therefore relate to all the clients performance. But anyway - we will in near future try it out.

Keep up the good work with Vault.
