Installing on XP Pro

Post by AlexW » Tue Jul 15, 2008 6:08 pm

I've just finished installing Fortress server (and client) 1.1.2 on a WinXP Pro box. The inital testing of SQL Server, IIS, ASP.net and logging into the server via the web page all went well. But when I use the client to log in (after creating a user, etc.) I get the error "Could not get public key from server".

I went through all the suggested steps to fix the provided by the support page (see http://kb.sourcegear.com/FortressHelp/m ... .1.2.18185) But nothing worked. An inital test installation on my development box (a Vista PC) all worked fine.

As a side note, each time I reset the read/write access rights to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys , once I restart IIS the right revert back.

Has anyone else seen this kind of behaviour? Anyone have a suggestion as to what to try next?

I have never seen a reset of IIS change permissions on something before.

How exactly are you setting those permissions?
Once those are set, try not performing an iisreset and instead try out Fortress to see if it runs then.
