Should MASTER page types be mergeable?

Should MASTER page types be mergeable?

I noticed that asp.net MASTER pages get checked out exclusive. I assume this is because "master" is not listed in the mergeable file types. Should it be?

Correct. If you want master pages to be mergeable, add them to the list.
