Configuring Log On As in SourceOffSite Server 4.0.2

Hello,
I had installed SourceOffSite Server 4.0.2 on windows.

I went to Control Panel->services window.

I click right button and properties.

I Change now Log On as from "Local System Account" to
"This Account" , then I press "Browse" at the right.

I should choose a list of users (Administrator,Guest ...; This is the same list of control panel ->Users and Passwords).

I choose the name of the user I log on to windows with .
I enter the password with which I do log into windows with this
user name.
(I do not log into a domain).

I press "ok" and "apply".

Now when I try to start the service I get the following error:
"could not start the SourceOffSite Server 4.0.2 service on Local computer"
error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure"



any idea why ? what should I do ?

This error usually occurs when the services log on credentials are
configured incorrectly (usually an invalid password). Please verify that
the service's log on credentials on the Log On tab in the service's
properties is configured using correct user account and password.

If you are unable to get past this error, it may be helpful if you could send
us your 'log.txt' file located in the SourceOffSite directory on the Server
machine.

I verified that the password is indeed the one that I enter
when logging into windows and it is so.

Second , when I try to start the service I get the same error.

There is not log.txt in the server directory.

I made sure that in Serevr Manager->General Setting , the
Log to log.txt file is selected.

Moreover: If I change , in the service properties->Log On As to
Local System account, I do succeed in starting the service and in this
the log.txt file is created; but I don't think I can login
with yout client.

It sounds like the account you're using for the SOS Server service doesn't have read/write access to the SOS Server directory. If SOS can't write out the log file, the server service won't start. Check the permissions on the SOS Server folder and grant explicit rights to the "logon as" account you're using.

Hello,
I had checked again; the user that I selcet for the service
is the user with which I perform login to windows .
And the password is the same. This user has an administartor
priovielges ; this user has read/write rights to that folder.

Still , when starting the servuce , I get
error 1069 :the service did not start due to a logon failure.

any idea?

It's fine to use the System account if that's what enables the SOS Server to start.

Can you log into SOS with the SOS Client when the SOS Server Service is started? If not, what error message do you get?

If you can't connect and the service is started, let me know the error message on the client side and email me a copy of the log.txt file.
