some ideas

Post by PeJa » Sun Jun 15, 2008 7:20 am

Hello,
I have some ideas for improve work with Vault.

- Show history in bottom Tab (like Messages, Search, ...) with ability to select one or two history items and show differences (like in History Explorer).
- Highlight a tree nodes according to status of a files. So, if I will change some file (status edited), its folders (up to root) will change its color, so I could see better, where are changed files.
- When compared files are identical, I must close two dialogs. Notice with text "Files are equivalent..." and DiffMerge window. I think it could be better to show only Notice dialog and don't show the DiffMerge window.

Thank you and your development team. :)

Is there a reason you don't like the current History Explorer window?

You can use the Search pane to do a search on files of a particular status, liked edited, renegade, etc. It's at the bottom of the Vault GUI Client window.

I've added a feature request for this. You could turn off the Files are equivalent message in Tools->Options, so at least you have only one window to close.

No it isn't, but for me (and I believe for some others too) should be better to view history without any showing window. When I select a file I could see what was changed immediately.

I'm using this function now, but I think this would give more global view. With colored folders (and files) you can quickly see, where are changes, missing files, etc.

These ideas are only for faster usage of Vault Client.
