Missing files from Vault database

Post by geoffapple » Mon May 12, 2008 6:14 am

The vault database is suddenly missing files. In some solutions the .SLN file is no longer in the database and various random other files are also missing from the database.

In VS the missing files no longer have any source gear icon next to them and the Vault client seems to have no record of these files. They dont show up as having deleted either!

Any ideas?

Thanks
Geoff

What version of Vault are you using?

Are all users seeing the same thing?

If you look in folder history, do you see any actions on those files?

Hi Linda

Version 4.1.1

I am only a single user but am seeing the same thing on any PC where I have the client installed.

There is a history of previous changes to those files in the folder history.

Thanks
Geoff

I tried to add 1 of the missing files back in using the client but the transaction failed with this message:

"An item with the same name or object id already exists in the selected folder"

The file however is NOT visible in the list of files in that folder!

The next step would be to delete your client-side cache files:

Close any open clients before you do this -- including Visual Studio.

Restarting IIS will also clear the server cache.

Thanks Linda,

Rebooting the Vault server and then clearing the client-side cache has done the trick. :D
