Inital check in

Post by Mike Bennett » Fri May 02, 2008 3:43 am

I have set 'Require check in comments' for my repository to on, but I don't get forced to enter a comment when first adding a file. Is there any way to do this.

Also it is not possible to enter a comment when deleting a file or folder.

Both of these features would be useful, as we record the change note number in the comments, we can then search for all the actions that took place on that change.

What version of Vault are you on? I just checked that out with the latest and it does require comments in those two cases.

Also, have you closed and reopen your client since those changes? In order for the client to load the new rules from the admin, it needs to be closed and reopened.

Version number

Post by Mike Bennett » Wed May 07, 2008 1:56 am

I have version 4.1.1.18060 installed on both the server and the client. I have just restarted the client and it still allows me to add and delete files without prompting me for a comment.

If this is working for you, this suggests there is another setting I have missed.

If you close and reopen the admin web pages, does it still show as checked? If not, then you need to click 'save' at the bottom.

'Require check in comments' remains checked when I reopen the Web Admin page.

Can you open a client, connect to a repository, go to Help - Technical support and post the environment information here? I don't need the license stuff at the bottom.

What are your other users running on? Are there any on XP? If so, can they try the same thing?

Can you check your Vault Server Log for any errors and your Event Viewer Logs? In the Event Viewer, what I'm specifically looking for is to see if the 2.0 .NET framework complained about any thing.

I can't find any errors or warnings in the Event log that relate to Vault.

Try restarting IIS. It's possible the information in the Admin Client didn't get cached.
