We'd suggest upgrading in stages, as you are on a fairly old version of Vault.

Before you start:

Review the release notes for Vault:

http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=792.

Update your licenses. Only Vault 4.x licenses will work with Vault 4.x.

--Backup up your current Vault database. It's important to have a good backup.

--If you're moving the database,. restore the sgvault database to the new SQL Server location.

--Install Vault Server 2.0.6, then 3.0.7, then 3.1.9. The installer will upgrade the database. You should backup each successfull database upgrade.

You can get older installers here:
http://www.sourcegear.com/vault/downloads2.html

--After the database is upgraded to 3.1.9, install Vault 4.1.1. This will also upgrade the database and add the sgmaster database, which is a new feature in Vault 4.x. Sgmaster holds the user information.

Users must also update their clients to 4.1.1. Your client and server versions should always match.
