VSS Import: Protocol not supported by the client

While attempting to start an import from our VSS server (version 8.0.50727.42) we keep getting an error message box:

'The server ises a protocol that is not supported by this client"

VSS client is installed on the machine and appears to be working ok....

Any ideas?

I briefly responded on your other thread. This error indicates that the client and server versions are incompatible. Verify that you're using the same client version as your server.

I'm try the single user demo of Fortress and getting the same error - the "server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client". The versions from the Fortress Client logon are as follows:
[30/04/2008 15:48:49] Version Check: This Fortress client is version 1.1.1.18060
[30/04/2008 15:48:49] Version Check: Your Fortress server is version 1.1.1.18060

I'm using VSS 2005.

Could this be because the import tool is looking for Vault 4.1 and not Fortress 1.1?
