Visual Studio and temporary files

Post by paul-shed » Tue Apr 22, 2008 4:33 am

Hello,

I'm having the same problem with Visual Studio 2008 under Vista and Vault 4.1.1 as reported here http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=7995

It's very annoying having these temporary files turn up in Vault as they trigger our automated build process. Doing an Internet search I came across the following article http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... S.80).aspx This implies that the issue is with the Vault integration and not Visual Studio as you imply in your reply above.

Also, there's a registry key where you can turn off creation of these files.

So Sourcegear, what's your position on this?

Regards,

Paul

The Vault Classic Client was coded to the 1.1 MSSCCI spec, and therefore Visual Studio will continue to create the temporary files to detect source control capabilities.

If this causes undue pain in your build processes, we recommend using the Visual Studio Enhanced Client.
