Slow Client

Post by Tonyb » Thu Apr 10, 2008 12:50 pm

I'm having performance problems with the Vault GUI client.

It takes over 60 seconds to open vault and after a check in the "Retrieving Repository Information from server" is also slow.

I think I have the same problem that is reported in this thread:
http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=8639

I have a deep directory structure, a decent number of files, Edit/Merge/Commit style, and use CRC to detect modifications.

If unset my working folders the startup time is about 10 seconds.

My client logging has lots of entries like this:

Code: Select all

4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <wf>: [Main:5764] wf d:\dev\FullScreenTechStats mutex locked
4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <mutex>: [Main:5764] Released mutex 1448

4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <wf>: [Main:5764] wf for d:\dev\FullScreenTechStats\My Project created
4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <mutex>: [Main:5764] Created mutex 2072 (Vault_WF_-1254500804)
4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <mutex>: [Main:5764] Took mutex 2072
4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <wf>: [Main:5764] wf d:\dev\FullScreenTechStats\Web References mutex locked
4/10/2008 2:31:03 PM <mutex>: [Main:5764] Released mutex 2072
The old post I linked to said that this was an issue scheduled to be resolved in a 4.0.x maintenance release, does anyone know if the issue was ever address?

Tony,

I've recently been investigating a slowdown that could be related. What version are you on?

Sorry, I forgot the most important part in my first post.

I'm on version 3.5.3.5169. I just upgrade from 3.5.0 and didn't notice an improvement.

Can you please email support at sourcegear.com with a link to this message? I have a build which may correct this.
